ASGRD 2015: Toolbar order + latency
#1
We are still sorting out an upgrade to 2016, so are still running 2015.

Three issues:
- To maximize screen space I place the "menu" toolbar and the two "button" toolbars together on one line with the "menu" toolbar in front. After a ASGRD restart the toolbar order is always messed up, so the placement is not saved. See attachments.

- We run ASGRD from a terminal server (W2K8R2). Sometimes I experience extremely slow typespeed with high latency typing in the LOCAL session outside ASGRD (fx opening and typing in the Run dialog in Windows) so typing is lagging several seconds behind. Closing ASGRD fixes the problem. Reopening ASGRD sometimes returns the problem, but sometimes its not an issue. Have anyone else observed this?

- We still sometimes see the issue where none of the tabs/connections in ASGRD (previously vRD) accept any input. Then you can click outside ASGRD to active another application and switch back to ASGRD and then you can type in the tabbed connections again. Have anyone else observed this?

Hello drlandau, unfortunately the problem#2 has been recently observed in our Citrix environment.

We use Citrix 7.6 with Win2008R2 and ASG-RemoteDesktop 2015, but version 2016 was also tested and the problem still appears.

The keyboard lag happens in any application (i.e. Outlook, Notepad) only when a remote session is started in VisionApp. When we close VisionApp typing is back normal.

We have recently added NVidia vGPU to the Citrix Farm, so it may be somehow connected with the problem. On the Citrix Servers without vGPU the problem has not appeared.

Anyone has any idea how to fix the issue?

Did you try to deactivate "Extended shortcut availability"? This could be an issue with using Citrix or perhaps also when used as Published App...

And I will check the menu/toolbar issue...

I can't reproduce the menu/toolbar issue - tried in local and database mode.

How are you using the app? Local or database mode? Local client or via RemoteApp/Citrix?

Thanks for quick answer. I deactivated the "Extended shortcut..." option and so far the problem has not appeared again. I'll monitor it for the next couple of days, but it works much better now.

We use ASGRD in database mode on a W2K8R2 terminal server, no Citrix.

So Oliver you say that if you place all three toolbars next to each other, close the program and reopen, the toolbar positions are restored ok?

I will try to disable "Extended shortcut availability" to see if that helps on the intermittent slowness, though not sure why this is connected?

Thanks,
Nicolaj

Yes it's working - but I see some strange behavior "sometimes" - I guess the order of the toolbars is important - try to set the toolbar with delete, new, ... on second position - perhaps than it will work - I see sometimes that if I use this toolbar at the end, there is a huge space between the toolbars - don't know why, but hope that helps :-)

Just an update on the toolbar issue. We just upgraded to ASGRD 2016 Patch3 and the problem persists.

Your suggestion with "delete - new", do you mean in the toolbar Customize context menu? In there I'm not able to delete a menu, only add a new with "New...".

Where are the position of the toolbars saved? I can't find it in the profile.xml file or in the registry.
Maybe the issue is that the position isn't saved, so the toolbars are just placed in "random" order upon start of the application.

Have you considered moving to a "ribbon-style" interface?
Then you can save horiointal diskspace by collapsing the toolbar like if fx MS Office (at least save one line like I'm trying to accomplish by placing the menu and button toolbars on one line).

See screenshots.

Hi,

attached is a image of my toolbar - then it works fine for me...

For resetting UI layout you can choose "Tools=>Reset user layout".

Ribbon toolbar - I add this as a feature request and will look at this later...
