If you use MultiEdit I guess you want to update all servers with same credentials - then it would be easier to use the "Inherited" values from the parent folder - that is the default
Please check on the servers if everything is configured rightly - if you have set Personal Creds - you have to choose also to use these Personal Creds - this can also be done with MultiEdit - goto the Credentials category in Properties dialog and choose "Set usage" and choose "Personal" - then press OK for assigning this option to all servers...

Screenshot asg4.png seems to be the absolutely correct action to perform
If you go to to a connection object how the credentials are configured after that command? Is it set to Personal when you open the connection? And what is assigned in the credentials field?
And Inherited is always available - in file or database mode - that's the way it should be configured! But Inherited is not available for general categories because it make no sense to inherit the name or destination of an item

Could it be the problem that you didn't activate the Roles? Go to the root object => Properties and choose on the left side "Roles" - activate Credentials (and others you want to see) - the Roles will also be inherited by default so you should see them on all child objects - and I guess that you can now see the creds you have assigned by MultiEdit?!?
