Please leave RDP Tabs open !!!
#1
Hi Folks,

I'm daily using ASG Remote Desktop (currently in Version 11.0.6104.1).
One annoying thing I suffer from is that RDP tabs are closed as soon as I reboot or shutdown the remote machine.

Is it possible to open several RDP Sessions in tabs and to leave these tabs open, also if the remote machine reboots or if I log out from Windows?
Just leave the tabs open and I press reconnect some time later when the machine is up again. This would be my desire.

Currently there is only a possibility to retry cennecting based on dedicated error return codes you can enter in ASG Remote Settings.

I already tried to enter all possible RDP return codes provided by Microsoft, but this don't help in case of a reboot or shutdown to remote machine initiated by myself.

all RDP Error Codes (entered with spaces in ASG Remote -> "Settings" -> "user specific" -> "Connections" -> at the Bottom "Return codes for retry")

Yes I've tested it and it is not working - Reboot fire no "Disconnect-Event" - so we can't handle it currently... I will check again

Just installed 2020 Patch 6 and this is now the Default!   How do I UNDO it?  I DON"T want it to stick.  I want to back to the way it has always been.  Not happy to see the default changed.

Yes - sorry, we have implemented this feature and didn't think enough about existing configurations - it's part of the reconnecting options for all disconnects - and as you say that makes not really sense - we will add a new own option for this and replace the Patch6 with a newer version. We will try to do it by tomorrow...

Thanks for fixing it. I still don't see how a person would set that option. It might be nice on occasion or for certain servers.

We published a new Patch6 version - just use this and it will be an option - by default it will be like before - tabs will be closed on Logoff

Hi JMEngelhart and the others not needing this feature.

Perhaps this is due to I'm more remote connecting to clients and less servers. Clients and especially for test clients you might (or in this case it's me) more often need to reboot or log off and login (perhaps with another test user) and in this case I want to be back when client is back again online and not searching again through my long list which test client I had last for this test I just did. Perhaps this clarifies a little bit the desire for this option.

But I fully agree, this should be an option, switched off by default. Just needed a possibility to configure it to my needs, which was not possible before.

Best Regards to all here
Thanks a lot to DevOma, I feel with you because of the fault in between.
