ASG-RD 2019 SSH Putty can't select text to copy
#1
I switched to using Putty as an external application to get this working but it seemed like the recent upgrade from 2018 to 2019 made it work but I can't get a Putty configuration to work within ASG-RD, only outside (not going back to using Putty as an external application yet).

Any ideas?

Hi,
still thinking about it, but I assume your intention was to use the clipboard to copy informations from a putty terminal connection ? I just retested an ssh connection using the integrated putty with the 2019 version and I could use the clipboard without problems. In the terminal itself I just marked the text and then its automatically available in the clipboard. No need to press Ctrl-C or anything else.
Could you describe the problem more detailed ? Maybe I missunderstood you.
Thanks,
Michael

Yes, that's the odd thing: I can select in an ls -l listing my mouse pointer will change to a carat over the file name so I can start a select there but the mouse pointer will remain an arrow/pointer over the beginning of each line of output.  (I know the act of highlighting/selecting is what copies the text to the clipboard.)

When I run putty from a cmd.exe, so using just the defaults, it works outside of RD.  Bu within RD the mouse behaviour gets strange.

Hi,
thanks for your feedback ! But I can't reproduce the effect you describe using an ssh connection to a debian shell. My mouse turns into a small cursor as soon as the mouse hovers over the sessions terminal. Do you use a special setup like multimonitor or 4k resolution ? My only assumption is that this might be a problem - what type of connection do you use ? standard ssh ? Did that kind of connection ever worked with a previous version ? Does it work if you use our builtin putty ( Ver 0.70.0.0) that you find in the program directory of ASG-RD ? Is it a difference using 32 or 64bit ?

Michael,
thank you for your feedback ;-)

I use 4K TVs at home (65") and at work (49") as the primary monitor on my company laptop which drives them using a full-size displayport to HDMI cable (but the cable has to be rated 4K).

If I start putty sessions outside of ASG-RD they work fine.  Inside sucks.

I'll see if removing my external putty configuration helps.

Have applied 2019 patch 2 and still cannot get putty sessions within ASG-RD to work properly while they work outside just fine. Both using my configuration "SR".

ASG-RD really isn't worth it if it doesn't work with putty.

Any ideas?

Good morning,

hmm...ok we didn't change anything in patch2 that has to do with putty because we can't reproduce the effect until now. I assume it has something to do maybe with 4K resolution because thats something I can't test here...simply don't have such a device here. Can you change resolution to Full HD for testing ? And putty is working but just the clipboard has problems correct ?

Best regards,
Michael
