Instant disconnect and ASG RDP freezes
#1
Hello Forum,

Installed latest verison (12.0.6342.1) on Windows 7 64bit. Created and new connection and wanted to connect. Once clicked on connect it instantly prompts "Disconnected" and the application freezes. To resolve the situation I am forced to kill it via Windows Taskmanager.

Rolling back to SP2 didn't solved it either.

Any help is more the welcome!

Cheers,
Uwe

Please check your settings => Connections-Reconnect Settings => Set "Show MessageBox" on disconnect to ensure that you get the error code! And then please let me know what the error is...

Would it be possible that the portal does not accept .avi files? 7zip file are however rejected.

Just changed settings to allow *.7z files. Zip also is allowed but no pure Avi. Not sure about sizelimit... please try again.
Thanks,

Did you configure Destination inside the connection object? Which protocol you are trying to use?

RDP - Since RDP via MS RDP works fine without any error.

So in Destination is a valid hostname? Did you run Components Check to see if RDP is fully available?

Any logs in Windows Application Event log?

It's really strange - in so many years and so many versions - this is the first time that issue occur.

Did you try to use something else - like http connection for test. Other destinations for RDP? Could you run ASGRD 2019 on your Win10 machine? I don't have any Win7 machine left where I can test it - but I think it should be not really a problem on Win7. .NET 4.6.2 is required - but if not on the machine, the app shouldn't start…

What are the results of the Component Check???

I'll run some more tests. The Windows eventlogs don't show anything. I might as well setup a seperate W7 VM iinstead of the the PC and see what the outcome is. I'll get back to you asap.

I'm also getting the same issue. I've currently got 7 RDP windows opened. Tried to open the 8th and it disconnects with the error

"Because of a Protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again"

But I connect fine with MS RDP straight away AND if I open another instance of ASG remote desktop it connects to the server fine.

Seems there is a memory leak or problem in the application on version 12.0.6420.1 the last few releases are getting increasingly worse with this

My Laptop has 6.3GB Free out of 16 GB. Windows 10 x64 1903 - Intel i7-7660U

Ok, x86 version is very limited in memory usage - and if you use mstsc.exe it will always start in 64bit mode if your OS is 64bit...

Can you reproduce the crash in 64bit app with 5 connections - should not be a general problem in 64 bit application
