AD Synchronize
#1
We are currently running ASG-RD 12.0.6420.1.

Regarding the Active Directory Import > Synchronize now, can this be set to run automatically on a schedule?  I saw a post in this forum from 2013 and the response from Oliver at ASG was that it was on the roadmap for the next version. I'm hoping that 6 years later in 2019 it's already available and I'm just not seeing it.

We see that there is a command line option in the lower right hand corner. Does this mean that we can install ASG-RD on a server, and then schedule this command line as a scheduled task and it will be kept up to date for all of our IT employees that have ASG-RD installed locally?

Yes the only way is to use the command line and schedule a task in your OS

Thanks. Does each ASG-RD user have to schedule the command as a scheduled task locally, or is there some way to set this task up on a server that we can all sync to?

If you use a public folder all synced objects will be also public - so you just need to setup the sync on one computer

Can you explain what you mean by public folder or send me a link to some information?

Every object in ASGRD in database mode can be "public" or "private" - you find this in General-Tab of each object - Public objects can be used by all users who have permission for this object - private objects can be only used by the creator

Hello,

i would add a Question to this Topic.

We use many different Folder in ASG with different LDAP Filter.
Actually I snyc this Folder Manually in the Properties of it.

I found the Commandline Option that you suggest but do I need to create round About 30 Task for all our Folders ?
Is there any possible way to sync all Folders (with AD Sync) in one Instance in one Step ? Like "/syncid:allfolder"

ASG Version: 11.0.5924.0

No that's not possible - so it would be necessary to add all the command lines to one cmd-file - then you need to create only one task

Thanks for your Response.

Sounds bad. Maybe there is a future Version with this Option.

Because i need to add new Folders frequently i will check if it possible to script a "autofinder" with PowerShell API that adds the ID to the Sync Task.

If I am understanding this correctly, if we only have one folder with role equal to Active Directory and this folder has multiple subfolders, we would only need one command line in our scheduled task. Is this correct?

Nachtschatten's situation sounds different from ours since it sounds like he has many different folders with role equal to Active Directory and each folder has a unique filter.

The sync command is the same as you do it from the UI - so if you sync your subfolders it is one command - but if you have subfolders that have different syncs configured you can't sync them with one command
