Clipboard do not works
#1
Hello everybody,

I have the following problem:

We use the ASG Remote Desktop in the company to have easier access via RDP to our and the customer systems.
Unfortunately, the clipboard has remained on the track for some versions.
It was unattractive but for the time it has not disturbed to be noticed immediately.
Now we wanted to fix it, because it always stops by passing text or data onto the systems.

It is not possible for the user on a physical client (Notebook) to insert text or files on a system (virtual Server).
When you take a right-click, "Paste" is greyed out and nothing happens when you use the command "Ctrl + v".

But if two sessions are running in the ASG, the clipboard can be used.
So you can copy and paste from one session to the other session.

More information here:
ASG Version: 12.0.6504.1 (ASG-RD 2019 - Patch6)
Of course, the clipboard is also checked by default
Server: Windows Server 2019 Standard 64Bit virtualized with VMware

Does anyone have any idea what we can do to use the clipboard again?
Thanks in advance!

Did you try to use the same functionality in mstsc.exe between the same systems?

I have sometimes problems if I want to copy/paste content from specific application - so text is not in clipboard when using Copy, but if I try the same with notepad.exe it is and then it works fine. Could you please test using notepad.exe and then copy/paste some text into your sessions? Is that also not working?

And is your ASGRD version installed on a local client or is it used as published application?

Hello DevOma,
Thank you for your prompt reply!

Yes, I can copy text from PC/Notebook with notepad and paste it into another data like txt or Word in a session.
A good tip for now Smile
But unfortunately it's not like in the previous versions ... so it was very comfortable.

The application is used as an RDP application (Work Resources) for all members of our company.

Do you have any ideas what to do when exchanging files?

If I select a local file in explorer and copy it I can paste it on my desktop in any session and also in Explorer - in general it should work - if not please try to do the same with mstsc.exe on the same destination. Any difference?

So it's not working if you copy a file from local workstation and try to paste it on desktop of your connection? Sometimes I have the same but normally it works...

Yes, in this constellation (lokal workstation to desktop connektion) clipboard does not work.
But it is permanent by all lokal workstations of us.

What do you do if it do not works by you?
Change somethings oder open the session again?
Or anything else?

For me application restart or sometimes reboot of my client solves the problem - but I guess it won't help you if it fails permanently for all users

If you search the web "rdp clipboard don't copy files" you find a lot of people running into the same issue - but all suggestions I read didn't help - I don't know why it is not working...
