ASG Remote Desktop 2020 Version 13.0.6888.1
#1
ASG team,

It seems that with the release of the latest version we have lost the ability to browse forests and domains to import servers from Active Directory. I am running Windows 10, 1809, latest patches as of this month. Can you please investigate and remediate?

What exactly is your issue? Any errors? Not working for trusted Domains? Non trusted domains configured in global settings? Which step is not working or where do you have any issues?

If I right-click on a folder and select the Import Wizard, then select 'Import from Active Directory', then on the next screen select 'Add', under 'Select Computer' the 'Search Locations' are completely blank, I cannot browse any domain or OU in the forest I am connected to. Nothing to do with trusted vs. non-trusted domains. I can't see a domain at all.

If you not have configured untrusted domains - only the trusted domains will be listed. I tried on different machines and my AD browsing is working as expected.

For testing purposes please add a domain in Settings=>Domain - just to see if this domain is listed afterwards. Are you using the same Windows Account? Have you any error log entries? Nothing has changed in AD browsing so it should be anything else in your configuration I guess...

Did you try the AD Browse at any other location - like AD-Sync - or in Security Groups (add Users)

The sync feature is working. I cannot browse at all. I only use a local user to access my environment so no Security Groups or AD users are present.

So if sync is working and if you use local user - you need to specify "Untrusted Domains" in Settings to browse any AD - did you try to add a Domain/user/password combination in Settings=>Domains? Can you browse the AD afterwards? Are there any domains listed in the dialog - like your local computer? Or is the list completley emtpy?

No trusted domains are listed. I am able to browse Active Directory using Active Directory Users and Computers and thru PowerShell from the same computer.

I configured my primary, root domain as an untrusted domain and added my non-administrative credentials to the settings. From there AD Browse worked only for the root domain.

I never had to do this before. I have always been able to use the simple import process from the domain which my computer is connected to, in order to browse and import objects. This feature in ASG-RD 2020 x64 Patch 6a is not working.

I reverted my install to patch version 5 and it did not work there either. It was however working about a month ago.  What kind of logs should be reviewing besides the Windows Event Logs?

We tried with different accounts on different machines - without any issues - and nobody else is running into the same issue - so it must be something in your environment - we also didn't make any changes in this part of the code...

You can switch back to any other version until 2019 (an test it again in this version) - it should be compatible with your data files. Of course, backup is always the better way to keep you data. I don't know from which version you have upgraded?

I upgraded from 2020 Patch 5 to 2020 Patch 6a. I also tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit installs. Neither work.

This thread can be closed. It was discovered that my computer had lost secure channel communication with my domain. Once reestablished, browsing trusted domains worked again.
