More Variables plus some in the User context
#1
Hi,

Could you put in one or two user defined fields in the Connection object, that you can reach via variable. Right now I have to use the displayed name for some things and that is bringing problems.

Also could you put in a Variable in the user context that can be pulled while logging in?
With this you can define something user specific while logging in, a Group or a rule (if you have a system that can work with that like Cyberarc or Wallix)
Or maybe pull an attribute from the AD object of the User since I think that ASG-RD has no own list for the users while using an AD sync, right?

Thanks in Advance

Are you using the latest version? Did you see that we support global Variables in Settings=>Variables - and in Tools=>Settings=>Custom Fields you can add 3 custom fields to the connection objects...

Thanks for the answer.
Yeah the Version is up to date, I just didn't know.

So I can put the User Variables in a Login string?  ( I need them in the RDP User Name String and with this in the credentials)
I tried but i didn't get the the information, maybe I wright the Variable wrong. Is it %Cake% or %CUSTOM_Cake% or %CUSTOM_VARIABLENAME Cake%?

Also are the Custom fields accessable as variable too?

You can use %CUSTOM_Cake% in the "credentials - user name" field - I just tried that - I just created an ext app for testing

Notepad.exe
Arguments: %Username%.txt

Now create a connection - protocol ExtApp - assign the credentials that have "%CUSTOM_Cake%" in user name field and the created extapp (notepad) - of course the variable must be set in global settings with any context - I just tried with test123

If I run the connection notepad trying to open test123.txt - so the Variable content is used in creds, can be read in extapp or connections :-)

For the Custom Variables (extension of connection fields) - you need to use "%Custom1%" "%Custom2%" or "%Custom3%" - didn't try it right now but can see it in code when using it in combination with ext.app.

Hope that helps - or do you miss anything else?
