Importing connections from 2010R2 to 2015
#1
Exclamation
I'm a long time user of RD 2010R2. Just got 2015 but of course it won't allow me to import my connections since I don't have 2012. What do I need to do to make this happen? I'm assuming I need to 2012. If that is correct, where can I get it?

Thanks

Just install - open your old datasource with version 2012 and it will be migrated - after that create a new environment in 2015 and choose "File=>Upgrade from 2012"

I appreciate you posting a link to the 2012r2 version. It does indeed work to import connections to 2012, but only allows exports (which i need for our Co's 2015 version) of 15 connections.

Could i "borrow" a license for about 25 minutes? We run fully licensed versions of 2015. We have lots of servers, 15 at a time would be painful.

You do not Need to Export from 2012 - just create a new Environment in 2015 Version and choose "File=>Upgrade from 2012"

Yes, i do need to export. These are two seperate machines and they have no connectivity. I'll need a file to take to the production system that 2015 can read. Once that is done, I will be deleteing the 2012 instance.

What you do is take all the files under the roaming profile directory (that are used by VisionApp) and put them on the second install (2015) and THEN Upgrade from 2012 and tell it where to find the settings file. As long at the source files are 2012, it will pull them in

That's correct :-) And if you are using a database you have to copy (backup/restore) the whole database to your new Environment...
