Export does not support special characters (æ,ø,å etc)
#1
Hi

We are using ASG-RD 2015 Patch 6.
As a norwegian customer we have some folders with special letters for the norwegian language. Similar as other languanges do. In the example below the text is for a norwegian city to group the connctions belonging to that city.

The ASG-RD application itself seem to support it:

But when doing an export it looks like this:
EAST\Akershus Energi\Rånåsfoss

Is there a way or would it be possible to support the same characters for export/import as supported by the application in other places? Smile
In our case the letters: æ, ø, å

I will check that - seems to be the encoding of export file that is wrong...

Hi Oliver

Do you have an update on this? Smile
Notice patch 7 got the same issue with the encoding used.

I tried with csv and rde-export and import - everything works fine - but I will make an extension that it is possible to specify the used "Encoding" instead of the Default-System-Encoding - so could try to use Unicode or UTF16 or UTF32...

Hmm, strange. It worked for you when copy/pasting the characters æ, ø , å and using them in ASG before export or in the .csv before import? Or did you test with some other characters?

I exactly copied these 3 characters into a connection name - in treeview ok, in properties dialog ok - then I exported this connection to csv and rde - opened both files with notepad and can see these characters again - then created a new folder and import csv and rde - in both new items the special characters are correct...

Noticed the same with notepad here.
Believe notepad translates this itself. Making Ã¥ appair as å etc.

Open it in Excel and you will see the special letters Smile
In other words, if you then modify the file in excel, and write æ, ø, å then, and reimport it, it will get bugged.

Hm, I think Excel might be the "converter" - notepad really opens 1:1 the text as it is...

I opened the file with Excel - let the special characters as it is and put a new line with special charcters in - then imported again - the characters that might be "corrupt" in Excel are well formed in ASG-RD again - only the special character that I pasted in Excel is wrong... very strange!

But I think I can't really change a lot in the program - seems to be a problem of Excel - if you search the weg for this problem there a lot of posts where users reports problems like yours...

I will try to look at this further.
Followed http://stackoverflow.com/questions/60022...omatically
And yeah, opening the file as UTF-8 in Excel shows everything correct,

So we will make everything use UTF-8 and see if that solves the issue Smile Thanks for your help.
