Connection Security No Longer Inherited for non Admins
#1
I have a DB in ASGRD 2015 (8.0.4770.0) upgraded from previous versions. Has been running fine for months but now security permissions for all folders under connections for non admins now shows "Not Possible" for Default, Inherited, and Personal tabs.

If I create a new folder ATest at the root of connections (connections has a default value of AllUsers read), normal users do not see the ATest folder. If I view props of that folder from an admin account I see the Inherited tab populated correctly (i.e. All users Read). If I assign a group to the default value of that folder, then users in the group can see the ATest folder, however once again the security permissions for the folder for that user show "Not Possible" for Default, Inherited, and Personal tabs, but the security groups list contains the settings shown in the default value tab when viewed by the administrator.

If the user creates a new folder under the ATest1 folder called ATest2, the folder is created. However properties of the folder show "Not Possible" for Default, Inherited, and Personal tabs, and the security groups window shows only the Administrator group.

Any connections built in these folders have NO SECURITY PANE at all for that user. Looking at the same folders and connections from an admin account displays all tabs and panes as expected.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's an quit old build from version 2015 - did you try to use a newer build? I think this should be solved in newer versions...

I was afraid you would say that.

I will get a copy of the DB and try an upgrade to the latest version.

Do you think it will correct the issue with the current DB or will I have to start clean?

Just wanted to let you know that I upgraded to ASG RD 2016 and the inheritance problem has indeed gone away. Thanks!
