Can you save/transfer ASG connections settings
#1
I have a user that has ASG version 15 on there old laptop. They recently received a new laptop and want to know is there a way for them to transfer their connection settings on their ASG  from their old laptop to the ASG version 15 on their new laptop? They are trying to avoid in having to redo all of their connection settings in ASG on their new laptop.

I saw one post that mentioned  help file - /configfile:<Configfile>. Is it possible I could have the user copy and paste that file from their old laptop to their new laptop to see if it saves their ASG settings from their old laptop? If not are there any other options available?

You can see your config file path if you open ComponentsCheck - you can copy this file to the new laptop - if the user works with same Domain Account on new laptop it should work - else you can just export and import your data.

Or do you work in a database and with new laptop personal settings are gone? Then you can use a simple trick - the user could change the Login Method to Internal Username - then on the new notebook login with that Internal User and switch back to Windows User

Can you please provide the steps to find ComponentsCheck?

Please see the screen shots attached. To recap here is what the user stated. ASG on their old laptop works just fine. They recently received a new laptop and installed the same version of ASG on their new laptop. Both their old and new laptop have the ASG software installed on it. Both laptops are on the company network. The user has logged into ASG at the same time on the old laptop and on the new laptop. When they open ASG on the new laptop they get the following error message "The given environment name already exists. Please connect your settings and try again."  I then had the user disconnect their old laptop from the company network and then log back into ASG on their new laptop but the same error message exists. The user does not want to uninstall ASG from their old laptop because they have all of the connections setup the way they want them and is afraid since ASG is not working on their new laptop they will not be able to use ASG at all on their new laptop.

Can you please advise what options does this user have or what other steps I can have them try to resolve their issue with their ASG on their new laptop.

There is already an environment with name "Standard" - so it can't be created again with same name - but it would be enough to just copy the file settings.xml from old to new laptop - you can see the path in your first screenshot.

Or you can use "Environment=>Export" - use option "Internal xml structure" and check all options in the wizard - then a export file will be created that can be used to import everything to new laptop via "Environment=>Import"
